Day 13 - Hull marina.

In WWII, after London, Hull was the most bombed city in the UK.
95% of the buildings were damaged or destroyed.

Get up Dad, it's 8.30 in the UK!

  1. Poor old Hull. I didn't know it got such a battering during the war, but all ports did I suppose.
The marina looks quite modern. Are the prices reasonable, for meals showers etc?
Did you get caught in the storm Brendan? Did you ever think you might need rescuing?

Are there many other sail boats around or is it quite easy to get a berth in the marinas you've been staying at.
    So many questions, sorry

    1. They're a bunch of fair weather sailors up here Madeleine. I didn't see a single other sail all the way from Lowestoft to here.

  2. Pauline's dad was from Hull. A true Yorkshire man. He loved beer, cricket and knew how to do Morris dancing. A real character.

  3. Oh, it´s lovely to hear from Margaux!! I love the way you sent your photo, very clever.
Quite right, Margaux, your dad is being a bit lazy. ( It might have something to do with the fact that he sailed through the night and probably didn´t get much sleep on the way.)
I think Coventry was also very badly bombed in the war. I think the cathedral was either partly bombed or had a miraculous escape. Can´t remember exactly.

  5. I thought 95 per cent of buildings damaged was a lot and having walked around the place I can only think that the good citizens of Hull are not beyond the odd fake insurance claim.
