Day 6 - another day on the Deben.

I just found out that I can't go to Southwold because I don't have a holding tank. It looks like Lowestoft tomorrow.

  1. What's a 'holding tank'?

Aldburgh's nice Bren..... and Snape & the Maltings . Went walking in that region years ago. A little 'otherwordly' in parts. Might be worth a look.

    1. A holding tank is to store waste water so it can be pumped out at a convenient location.
I don't have a dinghy yet so I can't go ashore at Orford or Aldburgh. I don't think I would want to in this weather anyway.

  2. Orford was rated as among the "20 most beautiful villages in the UK and Ireland" by Condé Nast Traveler in 2020 and its castle as "worthy of a storybook".

And Woodbridge struck me as a really nice little spot. Always meant to go back and have a lookee at the Sutton Hoo exhibition too. Particularly in light of the recent film.

(and yes.... I will stop with all the backseat recommendation soon! Just seems you're cracking a fair pace...)

    1. Hurray! I am able to write after all. Just took a bit of figuring it out ... duh!
We didn´t have a holding tank either, Brendan, and our boat was a 37 footer, but it never stopped us from tying up in the marinas. Where are you going to get hold of a dinghy?

    2. I'll keep looking on eBay for the dinghy but not now having a car means that I will probably have to buy new in a chandler's somewhere.

  3. Are those shelducks in the first photo Bren ? (Steve)
