You are making good headway, Brendan. Any interesting wildlife? birds? seals? whales? When we were cruising down the east coast of Spain, my job was mainly lookout: I had to scan the sea ahead for signs of fishing nets, lobster pots, markers etc. There were loads of them scattered off the coastline and some of them were not clearly marked. Kept me busy. (yawn)
Yes. It was a red sky this morning and now we are getting rain and very strong winds on the way. Plenty of seals and I have dolphins jumping alongside me in the Tay estuary. I would really like to see a whale though.
Look out for the Scottish sea eagle: apparently after an absence of 100 years they are back again, around the Loch Lomand area of the sea (wherever that is). They had been hunted out of existence at one time but have made a comeback.
Loch Lomond itself is just North of the Clyde, not very far from Glasgow, but it's land-locked as far as I know. There is a bird of prey centre (near its Southern end) marked on our AA map, so that's probably where they are. Steve
Alnwick (silent L, silent W). Impressive castle and town that I had never heard of. Alnwick castle. Home of Harry Hotspur, the famous knight (what? You've never heard of him?) Alnwick castle. Amble marina. Walworth castle in the distance.
Beautiful dawn. Good sailing Brendan

ReplyDeleteMarvellous lighthouse! But what a glowering sky. Looks like you are in for some rain.

Thanks for finding out that snippet of info, Steve. I meant to look it up but forgot.
DeleteIsn't it great that they've managed to re-introduce them. They're huge: 2.5 metre wing span so should be easily spotted Keep your eyes peeled Brendan.
