Carmel and I had a lovely drive down through the Cairngorms National Park. Really stunning scenery reminiscent of the west coast of Ireland in places. We stopped for a break at the rather posh town of Dunkeld (where the Jacobite forces were defeated) and had a walkabout. Then we stopped at Linlithgow for another walk, this time around the castle and loch. Mary Queen of Scots was born in this castle. Finally reached our destination of Livingston, close to Edinburgh airport.
Alnwick (silent L, silent W). Impressive castle and town that I had never heard of. Alnwick castle. Home of Harry Hotspur, the famous knight (what? You've never heard of him?) Alnwick castle. Amble marina. Walworth castle in the distance.
